Chartiers Valley School District prides itself on safely transporting students to and from school each day.  We encourage you to talk with your children about bus safety, using these tips as a guide.  As always, should you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Transportation office!

  • Arrive at the bus stop 10 minutes prior to the scheduled arrival – especially at the beginning of the school year when pick-up times may fluctuate
  • Download the Here Comes the Bus app to track the location of your bus
  • Wait for the bus at your assigned stop (bus drivers will not add or change stops)
  • Wait for the bus in a safe place – well off the roadway
  • Enter the bus in an orderly manner and promptly take a seat
  • Follow the bus driver’s instructions
  • Remain in the seat while the bus is in motion
  • Keep head and arms inside the bus at all times
  • Keep the aisles clear at all times
  • Be courteous to the driver and other passengers
  • Be alert to traffic when exiting the bus
  • Pets and other animals are not permitted on buses, except for service animals
  • Projects/instruments too large for a student’s lap are not permitted
  • Board-approved audio/video recording equipment is utilized on buses to maintain safety and security
  • Significant bus delays of 20 minutes or more will be communicated to parents
  • Primary students must be met by a parent or guardian at the designated drop-off location, or students will be returned to the Primary School. In order to request waiver of this policy, click here to complete the Primary School Discharge Waiver
  • Parents requesting permission for their student to ride a bus other than the assigned bus must provide advanced written permission to the school’s administrative assistant.  Such requests are to be made for emergency situations only.
